Description

Many of the friends of mine know I have an interest in digestive health. So it was not surprising that in conversation with a couple of them this week, at least one asked me what I would do to ensure a truly healthy digestive system. I was taken by surprise. I wish to explain why…

I have written such a lot about various aspects of nourishing digestive health that I have not actually stood back and thought about it holistically. What would I do if I’d to set in place a program for my own digestive system? I’ve since given this some thought and will reveal my thoughts below.
For starters however, we need to set some context. It’s becoming increasingly evident that diet is important to good all around health and well being. All of us know that do not we? Perhaps what’s often overlooked would be that a nutritious diet begins well before placing some food in your mouth. It starts off with understanding what food items are great for you and what foods are not. I wish to offer an example.

I suffer from cholesterol that is high, for this reason my diet must be low in fats that are saturated and lower in sugars. I’ve been advised to eat more fish, especially oily fish that are full of omega three. Simply foods like eggs, fatty meat and dairy foods products are not ideal in my diet. Here’s the dilemma of mine. I also experience gout. Gout is caused by above the typical acetic acid levels in the system that is brought about by consuming foods loaded with purines. So what food items are rich in purines? Fish, sweet meats, meat, meat extracts etc. Milk, eggs and other food items that are not suitable for one issue are OK for another. The point is that most people need to plan our diet to suit our very own situation.
Next there’s the question of a reliable digestive system. An efficient digestive system, at least from my viewpoint, is one that extracts the nutrients from the food we consume and properly disposes of the waste material that we don’t require. If either of these processes is deficient in any way, then it is able to result in problems. For instance, the speed at which our foods travels through the system of ours is vital for nutrient absorption and constipation. If perhaps waste items move slowly through the intestinal tract then simply more moisture is extracted which hardens the stools.

OK so we need to get directlyto the issue I was asked. What would I do. I would like to make an important factor here. I’m not really a doctor so am not qualified to give medical advice. What I’m about to say is a personal opinion based on the personal knowledge of mine and may not be appropriate for all. As I have explained earlier, we’re all different and must make a method which suits our own circumstance.

OK. Here is what I will do.
For starters, I would plan my diet. I would consider what foods are great for me and I would make sure that they’re plentiful in my plan. Fresh fruit, vegetables, grains as well as cereals come to mind. I’d nevertheless eat those things that I enjoy but are not good for me but only in small amounts. I have a sweet tooth and enjoy condensed milk for example! I’d subsequently cleanse my colon of any accumulated waste items with a colon cleanse. This can eliminate some waste clinging to my colon that may cause complications later. I then would supplement the diet of mine with an established best probiotic supplement – http://rt.com/search/everywhere/term/probiotic%20supplement/ australia (banburyfreeads.com – https://banburyfreeads.com/user/profile/340731). Probiotics are very important as they add good bacteria to the gut. Lastly I would supplement my diet daily with a multivitamin to guarantee that any flaws in my weight loss plan are covered.
